Our Leadership

Anne Peterson, Founder and Principal

Anne PetersonAnne has specialized in the statistical design and analysis of health, education, and social policy evaluations for over 20 years. A statistician by training, her expertise includes the design and implementation of large-scale surveys, and experimental designs with particular expertise in formative evaluations, process evaluations, impact evaluations, and evaluations of demonstrations.

Anne has written highly regarded Federal reports on a wide variety of topics including health care workforce, health information technology, health disparities, drug safety, substance abuse, autism and other developmental disabilities, food and nutrition, and program integrity.

She has worked with numerous population groups including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, health insurance agencies, business owners, Federal and State policymakers, families with special healthcare needs, seniors, the disabled, and individuals with limited English proficiency. She has extensive experience in data analysis and simulations, including multivariate modeling of complex survey data.

Prior to founding Insight, Anne had over 10 years of federal management experience at both the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She is an expert in synthesizing data from multiple sources into high-level reports and policy and issue briefs. She is an active member of the American Statistical Association and currently serves as employment coordinator for the Washington Statistical Society.

Bryan Johnson, Founder and Principal

Bryan JohnsonBryan is a senior policy researcher with over 20 years of experience in health, education, and welfare-based research and evaluation. Bryan is a recognized expert in program evaluation and policy analysis, having worked with Federal and State agencies on a variety of programs.

Bryan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in strategic management, financial and policy analysis, performance management, legal and regulatory analysis, and data presentation and dissemination. His topic areas of expertise include health workforce, health services delivery, access to care, behavioral health, health disparities, and care for vulnerable and at-risk populations.

He has led evaluations on prenatal substance abuse and domestic violence screening for the Washington State Department of Health, analysis and redesign of the performance management system for the Health Resources and Services Administration, and an assessment of outreach efforts to persons of limited English proficiency for the Social Security Administration.

Bryan has extensive experience in the public and private sector, having held senior-level positions in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the U.S. Senate prior to founding Insight.

Bryan has directed such efforts as the policy direction for the national Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and served as the evaluation lead for all Title VII and VIII grant programs within the Health Resources and Services Administration's Bureau of Health Professions. He has delivered presentations to a variety of audiences including the U.S. Congress, Federal health and education agencies, State and local officials, national and regional health and education associations, advisory bodies, and expert councils.

Claire Wilson, Executive Director of Research

Claire WilsonClaire has over 15 years of experience in health, nutrition, and education policy research. A social psychologist by training, her areas of expertise include survey development, multimode data collection methodologies, and evaluation design. She has directed large-scale surveys for multiple Federal clients, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Claire is also a skilled qualitative researcher, with over a decade of experience conducting in-depth interviews and moderating focus groups with members of various target populations, including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, educators, health care beneficiaries, parents of children with physical and mental health disabilities, and senior citizens.

She has written and overseen the development of many Federal reports, and routinely delivers incisive, data-driven presentations that get to the heart of our clients' most pressing policy questions.

Her topics of expertise include nursing workforce, consumer based health information technology, health disparities, loneliness among older adults, autism and other developmental disabilities, food and nutrition, and program integrity. Claire is an active member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, the American Psychological Association, and the American Public Health Association.

Daniel Geller, Vice President

Daniel GellerDaniel is an accomplished researcher and project director with over 25 years of experience in research design, survey research, and program evaluation for Federal and State programs with a focus on major social policy programs. His extensive experience in large-scale surveys and data collection directed toward assessments of program participation and outcomes, impact of programs on beneficiaries, and program integrity, fosters adherence to procedural, operational and eligibility requirements, and measures of erroneous payments. His recent efforts have focused on food assistance programs, higher education finance, student financial aid, substance abuse, and international programs aimed at increasing understanding of American society and its core values.

Dan is expert at the management and conduct of large-scale, complex national surveys and data collection efforts to serve the needs of his research and evaluation studies. He uses a variety of sampling frames and data collection methodologies, including in-person, telephone, Web, and mail surveys. Through effective communication and sound management, he has implemented numerous process improvements for data collection and consistently completes research efforts on time and within budget. He effectively uses analysis of external data sources in policy research and the effective use of quasi-experimental and experimental approaches in evaluation research.

Prior to joining Insight, Dan served in positions of increasing responsibility for several major government contractors. He received a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the City University of New York. He has authored numerous project reports and articles in peer-reviewed professional journals.
